Intelligent Design

Even if you claim that you don’t believe in God, it’s difficult to argue the possibility that the Universe is a product of intelligent design. It is possible that at some point in time there was a plan and that plan became what we call the Universe. If you are getting ready to disagree, let me make it clear that I simply called this a possibility. I’m not going to call it a fact. I’m not qualified to make that statement. I am not one to say that I’m right and you’re wrong. I am simply asking you to consider this as a possibility.

What is the most complex product you ever planned and created? Let’s look at motorcycles. Most of us ride a motorcycle that someone else designed and created. We may have personalized it to make it unique but we weren’t really involved in making it. The motorcycle company engineers and manufacturing staff designed and created it.

I can’t make a motorcycle from scratch. I don’t understand what is needed to machine metal, build engines, make tires, and produce a product as complex as a motorcycle. I know mine exists because I ride it as often as I can. I have never met or seen those involved in designing or creating it, but I have faith that they exist. I have faith because I know that my motorcycle didn’t just appear from nowhere. There was a plan and that plan became what I call my motorcycle. The creators are far more intelligent than I am, but I don’t have to know as much as they do in order to ride my motorcycle. I hope you can agree that at least this has to be a possible explanation for the creation of my motorcycle.

The same possibilities apply to the computer I’m using to write this article. Someone designed and made the computer, the software, and the electrical supply to power it. It was all planned and made by someone else. My computer, software, and the electrical supply didn’t just appear. I am not qualified or capable of understanding what is required to make a computer or understand how everything in it works. I’ve never met or seen those involved in designing or creating my computer, but I have faith that they exist. My computer did not just appear.

If I consider the complexities of the Universe and have faith that there was a designer and creator, it’s impossible to imagine how much smarter the designer/creator is than I am. I am not capable of understanding. I can’t even compare myself to the designers/creators of motorcycles or computers. Accepting the fact that I can’t understand everything presents the opportunity to have faith.

Let me say it again, I am not capable of understanding everything. I made a decision to be willing to consider the possibility that God exists, that He created the Heavens and the Earth, that He sent His son to die for my sins so I can spend eternity in heaven. That’s when my life began to change. It was after I made a decision to be willing to consider the possibility that God exists, He began to make me more capable of understanding. He continues to guide my understanding through His living word and prayer. He was waiting for me to be willing.

I used to be so lost. I had to be in control of my life. I had to know all the answers. If I couldn’t see it, touch it, and hear it, then it didn’t exist. I wasn’t willing to humble myself and consider the possibility that I was not even capable of taking care of my own little world. I eventually recognized that I needed to give up control and ask for forgiveness for the mistakes I made. I kept looking for something to fill an emptiness in my life and couldn’t find what was missing.

If that’s where you are, can we agree that these are facts? (1)You and I could not have designed and produced the Universe. (2) It does exist. (3) It is possible that the Universe is a product of Intelligent Design. Be willing to consider the possibility that God exists.

Make a life changing decision before it’s too late. Make it today. Make it right now. Ask God into your heart.

God Bless you, Sonny
